We welcome Phil and Janine Kanagy as our guests today as we prayer-fully discern together whether God may be calling them and the Weavers congregation to a long-term relationship, with Phil becoming our Lead Pastor. Phil has been a Virginia Conference pastor in West Virginia, Ohio, and Virginia for 26 years, most recently at Trissels Mennonite Church, Broadway VA, 1997-2008. More background information was distributed several weeks ago. Our getting acquainted process will continue over the noon fellowship meal, to be followed with a Question and Answer time.

The Men's Fellowship Breakfast meet this Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:30am at Thomas House Restaurant. Phil Kanagy will be with us for a time of introductions and interaction.

Word & Deed Committee has made a $500 contribution on behalf of Weavers to MCC for Haitian Relief. Additional individual contributions may be dropped off at Mennonite Financial Federal Credit Union located at 841 Mount Clinton Pike or mailed to MCC, P.O. Box 500 Akron, OH 17501-9989.

Funds are needed for MCC Meat Canning and Relief Kits for Haiti at Hinton Mennonite Relief Center (HMRC). MCC airlifted 70,000 pounds of meat into Haiti on Sunday, January 24 and anticipates shipping at least that much in the weeks ahead (along with relief kits, blankets and sheets). Hinton Mennonite Relief Center hopes to can at least 24 tons of meat, or over 26,000 cans of turkey meat for relief from March 1 to 5, despite the costs of turkey meat increasing over 20% from last year. $85,000 is needed for meat canning this year at the HMRC, up from $65,000 last year. Please consider making a donation to Hinton Mennonite Relief Center, P.O. Box 519, Dayton, VA 22821. Donations above the costs of meat canning this year will be used to prepare MCC Relief kits for Haiti or other relief responses.

A women's Bible study, "Living Beyond Yourself, Exploring the Fruit of the Spirit" by Beth Moore will begin this week on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The morning session will meet 1 p.m. (because it is Sewing Day) and the evening session will meet 6:30-8:00pm.

Congregational Leadership Changes:
~Larry Sauder has accepted appointment as congregational Music Coordinator, to complete the term of Davene Fisher ending in Aug. 2012.
~ Dorothy Shenk has accepted appointment to a newly clarified role as Senior Visitation Coordinator, with three-year term ending in Aug. 2012.
~ It is planned that two new Elders will be discerned this spring to replace Floyd Blosser, whose term is expiring, and Jeff Fisher, whose term is vacant, for service beginning in July.

The Alumni Association of Eastern Mennonite School is happy to once again present the rich four part harmony of Legacy Five. Today, February 7at 3 pm in the EMHS Auditorium. Proceeds benefit the school's financial aid program.

Members planning to attend college in the year 2010-11 are eligible for a tuition grant from Weavers. There are applications in the racks in the foyer to be filled out and returned to Sandi Good.

The Women's Bible Study at Park View Mennonite Church is offering an 8-week study of the "Four Distinctive Gospels," led by Reta Halteman Finger, February 3 - March 24, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a light breakfast. CrossRoads dinner postponed: The Annual Dinner & Meeting of Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center (CrossRoads) has been postponed. "The Gospel of John: Seven Signs and Seven Sayings" is the theme of this year's Adult Winter Bible School. Pastor and Bible teacher Duane Yoder will lead it over four Sunday nights beginning Feb 21 through March 14, 2010. The Nazareth Village Dinner will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, 6:00 pm at the EMHS dining hall. This annual fund raising event supports Shirley Roth, Director of Nazareth Village, Israel. Dr. Nakhle Bishara, founding board member of the Village will speak. A 9th generation Nazarene, it was Dr. Bishara's vision for what is today "one of the most inspiring biblical sites in the Holy Land." Seating is limited. Greenmonte Fellowship (Stuarts Draft, VA) will offer a free Love Works seminar on Saturday, February 20, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This seminar is for every believer who wants to understand and walk in the process of maturity in Christ.
