The flowers in the church today are given in loving memory of Carolyn
Campbell Slabaugh. Carolyn grew up attending Weavers Church and this church was very important in her life. She died January 24, 2007.

The flowers were given in loving memory by her sister, Miriam Campbell Elliott, her daughter Cheryl Slabaugh Long and her husband Marvin Slabaugh.

Join the Shenandoah Valley Hymn Sing tonight, at 7 p.m. at Park View Mennonite Church, Harrisonburg. The leader will be Les Helmuth and the hymn sing will be in partnership with Shekinah, the a cappella women's singing group.

Sewing Kits for Haiti: You are invited to join the Children's Sunday School department, Kid's Clubs, and Ladies Sewing in a project to help provide supplies for sewing kits. The fabric bags are being sewn by Ladies Sewing, and quantities of any of the following new items can be purchased and donated to the collection box in the church foyer. Feb. 19, 7:30-9am Breakfast fundraiser served in Shady Oak for Weavers Care & Share and Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community Auxiliary. Funds will go towards the purchase of a handicapped accessible bus for use by residents of VMRC. Pancakes, sausage, biscuits, gravy, applesauce, juice and coffee will be available. All are welcome to participate in fellowship and sharing in the needs of the elderly in our community. Meat Sandwiches will also be available for purchase. The Shenandoah Valley Men's Chorus, under the direction of Ruel Burkholder, will begin its 2012 season with its first practice on February 5, 2:30 p.m. at the Harrisonburg Mennonite Church. Men from ages 13 to 99, who enjoy singing a cappella music, are invited to join the group. Subsequent practices are scheduled for Sunday afternoons, ending with two concerts, including benefit offerings for missions and service, planned for 7:00 p.m. March 23, 2012 at Springdale Mennonite Church and 3:30 p.m. March 25, 2012 at Dayton Mennonite Church. The Winter Fest fundraiser for VMRC Auxiliary will be February 4 at Park Gables Main Street & Hartman Dining Room. There will be a Ground Hog Breakfast (7:30 a.m.-9:30), a Silent Auction (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.) a Bake Sale, starting at 8 a.m., and barbeque sandwich plate lunch (11 a.m.- 1 p.m.).

Harrisonburg Pregnancy Center is in need of RN/LPN volunteers to care for women who are experiencing unplanned pregnancies. Responsibilities include administering pregnancy tests, providing nurse consultation regarding fetal development and healthy pregnancy, and educating women on the risks of abortion. Development and Special Events Coordinator, part-time, needed for local non-profit. Bridge of Hope Harrisonburg-Rockingham (www.bridgeofhopehr.org) is seeking a part-time development and special events coordinator to promote the joy of giving to BoHHR by building major donor relationships and implementing successful special events and sponsorship opportunities. BoHHR, with a mission of "Together we can end and prevent homelessness..one church and one family at a time" has been in operation in the area for two years. The sixth international literary arts festival on Mennonite Writing will be March 29 - April 1 at Eastern Mennonite University. The Annual Meat Canning is scheduled for February 27 - March 2, 2012 at the Hinton Mennonite Relief Center, Hinton, VA. Virginia Mennonite Conference is responsible to help provide help on Tuesday, February 28. Help is needed from 5 a.m. until 11 p.m. each day. Friday, March 2 is scheduled as a community day and help is especially needed in the early morning. Anyone is welcome to come and help on any day! Funds are needed to purchase turkey for processing and for the ongoing operation of the Relief Center. Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR) and Coming to the Table programs at EMU are offering a one-time seminar "Healing Historical Harms." Training will provide tools for analyzing legacies and aftermath of historical trauma, and examine beliefs, narratives and structures that perpetuate trauma. The course is Feb. 6-7 and costs $175. Eastern Mennonite School Open House and Student Visitation Day for students K-12 and their families will take place Friday, February 10, 2012. Partners in Mission is announcing an immediate opportunity! The Wollega Church in Ethiopia has extended an invitation for a service and learning team, led by Carl Hansen, to help them build a rural satellite campus in Nekempte for Meserete Kristos College, their denominational seminary. Tentative dates are for two to three weeks in March, and the estimated cost per person is $2,000.
